“God Gave Me Life”:  a beautifully crafted and spiritually encouraging poem designed to help parents celebrate the blessing, purpose, and divine intention behind the gift of a child’s life. “God Gave Me Life” is the creation of published author, Anita E Martin, who began writing children’s stories and poems in her late fifties and draws deep inspiration from her faith, crediting God for guiding her creative work. Married with a blended family of five children and ten grandchildren, she comes from a long line of military-connected loved ones. God Gave Me Life is her first published piece, originally written in 2019 and later revised after she felt led to use it to encourage expectant parents. A visit to a pregnancy and health center in 2023 helped her recognize its purpose, and by 2024 she refined the poem to highlight God’s wisdom in pairing each child with the mother chosen for them. Known for challenging indifference and embracing spiritual strength, Martin lives by the belief that with God, she can face any storm.

Martin shares, “God Gave Me Life is an interactive poem about God’s wisdom in pairing a child and its mother. God’s wisdom is sometimes overlooked; but this book helps to remind you that your precious gift was not given to you by chance, your child was gifted to you intentionally through God’s grace. Children are a gift from God and this book is intended to emphasize and honor God for His love and grace in blessing you with your gift. And to also give thanks to the loving mother that makes the sometimes-difficult decision to take the journey called motherhood. “Our blessings shared were meant to be, for God chose YOU to carry ME” explains that intention. “I am the gift God gave to you” is the premise for this keepsake, designed to stay with your precious child as a record of their many accomplishments. This book begins with their birth and lets you, or them, “check off” the list as they achieve their milestones while they journey through the years. The special bond between mother and child is not limited to just the birth mother; God’s grace for mom and/or dad, whomever they may be, is no less precious. For this particular title, I focused on the birth mother and gave glory to God for that initial pairing.”
